8-Day Private Oman Tour

Discover the diversity of Oman on an unforgettable 8-day private journey combining culture, mountains, desert landscapes, wadis and the coast. This carefully planned itinerary takes you from Muscat to Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar and Wahiba Sands before continuing through Wadi Bani Khalid, Sur, Ras Al Jinz and Wadi Shab.

The tour is designed for travellers who want to experience several sides of Oman in one journey without having to organise each destination separately. Private transportation and an English-speaking guide are provided during the land portion of the itinerary, while selected hotels and desert accommodation allow you to experience different regions of the country.

What You Will Experience

Your journey begins in Muscat with some of the capital’s most important landmarks, including the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Royal Opera House, Muttrah Souq, Muttrah Fort and Al Alam Palace.

The route then continues inland to Nizwa, one of Oman’s most historic cities. Visit Nizwa Fort and the traditional souq before discovering the country’s history at the Oman Across the Ages Museum.

From there, travel into the Hajar Mountains and enjoy the dramatic scenery of Jebel Akhdar.

Continue through Birkat Al Mouz towards Wahiba Sands, where vast dunes create one of Oman’s most memorable landscapes. Spend the night in the desert and watch the sunset from the dunes before returning to your accommodation for dinner.

Wadis, Coast and Wildlife

The second part of the journey combines some of Oman’s best-known natural attractions. Swim in the pools of Wadi Bani Khalid before travelling through Sur towards Ras Al Jinz. In the evening, join a guided visit to the turtle reserve. Turtle sightings depend on natural conditions and the season and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

The journey back towards Muscat follows the coast and includes Wadi Shab, where a short boat crossing and hike lead towards natural pools surrounded by dramatic rock formations. The day also includes Fins Beach and the famous Bimmah Sinkhole.

On Day 7, head out onto the Sea of Oman for a group dolphin-watching and snorkelling boat trip. Look for dolphins in their natural environment before stopping for snorkelling and discovering the marine life beneath the surface.

Private Tour with a Flexible Itinerary

This is a private 8-day Oman tour, allowing greater flexibility than a standard group itinerary. If required, parts of the programme can be adjusted to suit the travellers. Wadi Shab involves hiking, swimming and uneven terrain, so the standard itinerary is not recommended for children under 6 years old. Hiking locations can be excluded or replaced when arranging the private tour.

Hotel check-in is normally from approximately 2:00–3:00 PM.
Hotel check-out on the final day is by 11:00 AM.
Turtle sightings at Ras Al Jinz cannot be guaranteed and depend on the season and natural nesting activity.
Wadi Shab requires walking, hiking and swimming and is not recommended for children under 6 on the standard itinerary.
As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be adjusted in advance where possible.

Went on the full day Wadi Shab Bimmah Sinkhole tour. Pick up direct from hotel was on time, our driver and guide Mahmood was excellent, full of fun and looked after us well. Experience itself well worth it, a great day out if you enjoy a good hike, swimming and fun. The scenery is unreal, the last cave and fountain worth all the effort to get there. Everyone on the trip were so friendly and I enjoyed every minute of it, and to finish off with an Omani meal in a local restaurant and stop off for tea and sweets on the way home. A great day, a great experience always to be remembered. Thank you Mahmood

Our tour guide, Jamaal, was AMAZING! The whole trip to Wadi Shab and the sinkhole was fantastic in and of itself but Jamaal made it much more so. Beautiful car, well prepared, super considerate, very knowledgeable about all things Omani, he was one of the BEST tour guides I’ve had in any country for any trip. He knew Wadi Shab like the back of his hand, he navigated us through the labyrinthine chasm as far as we could physically go. I felt bad for tourists who were trying to accomplish the Wadi by themselves / this is clearly not recommended. Jamaal was super safety conscious yet adventurous. He was great about recommending super photo ops. Jamaal- thank you and thanks for meeting us at airport to give us something valuable we had left in car! Awesome- my highest recommendation!!!!

What a great day ! It was exactly what we were hoping for : aventure and discovery in family! Given the fact we were with 3 Kids (12 / 10 and 6 years old). The site is stunning of course. We were led by a sportive and passionate guide, Hamood, who shared a lot of the culture and history of his country. The rythm was really good and adapted : no rush, true enjoyement and yet a very full day. Not only a guide, we really felt that Hamood took care of each of us.
